Wizkid to round-up 2017 Felabration

Written by

After an impressing show at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, will be performing on Sunday, October 15, at the grand finale of the week-long Felabration Festival.

Goldmyne TV gathered from a reliable source that the Starboy is in town and set to honour the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.eanwhile, Davido had earlier in the week revealed via his Snapchat account that he would not be participating this year, which came as a disappointment to fans who were already anticipating. While he didn’t explain reasons he shunned the yearly gig, it was learnt that the death of his two friends, DJ Olu and Tagbo, was key in his decision.

He wrote, “To all my fans expecting me at Felabration…, I’ m sorry I would not be performing anymore. I promise to make it up. Everyone stay prayed up! I love each and every one of you!”

With performances from Pepenazi and a host of others, this year’s edition began on Monday, in a promising way.

The second day of the show was led by Femi Kuti. Aramide, Pasuma, Simi, Praiz, Black Magic among others also made the night a blissful one.

Femi Kuti and Omawumi’s performance on Thursday night has been one of the major highlights of the celebration.

Earlier in the week, artistes like Kiss Daniel, Adekunle Gold, Small Doctor, Ice Prince, Oritsefemi, Brymo, Mayorkun and more came out to honour Fela with their exciting performances.

Also, as part of activities to honour Fela this year, the Lagos State Government will unveil the statue of Fela today at the Allen roundabout in Ikeja, Lagos. This is in honour of his 79th birthday and the 20th anniversary of his death.

Standing at 25 feet and titled ‘Liberation’, the statue is done to also celebrate Fela’s unique dress sense and style of salute.
